This metabolic test is an excellent indicator of cardiovascular fitness, the number one indicator of health. Individuals with higher VO2 max values can tolerate higher exercise intensity and volume than those whose VO2 max values indicate lower levels of conditioning. Those with higher VO2 can also recover from an aerobic work more efficiently. VO2 Max Testing is great for those whose goals range from longevity and health optimization to athletic performance, as it can give training, recovery, and nutritional recommendations based on your individualized needs.
-
• VO2 Max (Oxygen Uptake)
• VCO2 (Carbon Dioxide Production)
• VE (Ventilatory Equivalents)
• RER (Respiratory Exchange Ratio)
• Fat/Carb Burn Training Zones
• Cardio-Respiratory Efficiency
-
The test is typically performed on a treadmill or bike, however, sport-specific tracking is available upon request.
Dietary, exercise and medication restrictions do exist in the hours leading up to this test. PiS coaches will provide more details prior to your test date.
This is a maximum exertion test, be sure you’re able to perform the test safely by getting medical clearance from your primary care physician!

Resting metabolic rate is the rate at which your body burns energy when it is at complete rest. At Howell Rehab Center, we use RMR testing to see how many calories your body needs to perform basic functions like breathing and other bodily functions. Just like we have our own one-of-a-kind fingerprint, our metabolism is also unique. Metabolism is the measure of how well your cellular health is. It gives insight into how much fat you burn, if you are metabolically flexible, and the status of your mitochondrial health. RMR Testing allows you key insights into your own metabolism and can match your individualized metabolism to certain nutritional suggestions.
-
• See how efficient your body is at converting food to energy
• Learn more about your own metabolism, and how many calories your body burns daily
• Feed your body in a way that achieves your goals and conquer plateaus.
-
The test is typically performed laying down or in a chair.
Exercise restrictions exist in the 24 hours leading up to this test. Fasting is required 6 hours prior to test time (water allowed) and taking prescribed medications is acceptable. PiS coaches will provide more details leading up to your test date. Scheduling for early mornings (before 10am) is encouraged for this test.
